Friday’s Fixin’s: Baked Apple Cinnamon Spice Chips

After being gone for 4 days, I was in serious need of some time with our daughter, a/k/a Sweetly Six.  I’ve been eying this recipe for Baked Apple Cinnamon Spice Chips from the With Style and Grace blog for some time.

Since Sweetly Six and I love to spend time together in the kitchen (she is a more sophisticated chef than I am, by the way!), I decided that this would be a fun snack to make together.

Ohhhh, am I glad that I finally made them. It turns out that (aside from the slicing), they are the perfect treat to make with a little helper (Silver Lining).

Enjoy!

Baked Apple Cinnamon Spice Chips

Ingredients:

  • 2 large red apples
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon sugar (I used Stevia)

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 200 F. Cover baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
  • With a mandoline or a knife, thinly slice the apples crosswise about 1/8-inch thick. Again, with the knife or a cookie cutter [my choice], cut out the seeds.
  • In a shallow dish, combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar [optional]. Add the apples and toss in the spice mixture until coated.
  • Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake 1 1/2 – 2 hours, or until the apples are dry and crispy. Remove from oven and let cool.
  • Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container, about 2-3 days.

  1. Scrumptious! I didn’t have large apples so I used four smaller ones. I also didn’t add the sugar or sugar substitute and they turned out great! Your Sweetly Six’s hands look adorable!!! My two daughters are 33 and 31 but they’re still VERY SWEET too!! I sent them each a copy of the recipe.

I want to thank you for continuing your Silver Pen blog. It has been an answer to many of my prayers. I am currently battling ovarian cancer. Had surgery last June and will have my 10th chemo. treatment this coming Thursday. I will be praying for you as you continue on your journey, and especially on Tuesday as you undergo surgery. You are one of God’s messengers… Your courage and positive attitude is such an inspiration…
