For the last 9 years, we have had the best (well, I think it’s the best!) 4th of July tradition: first we go to the Fireman’s Fundraising Breakfast and then on to The (13 minute!) Village Fourth Parade. There are actually two parades in town. We choose to go to The Village Parade because, quite frankly, it’s the cutest thing in the world. Anyone and everyone participates whether or not you live in town (though you can always tell the peeps who don’t live here).
The morning breakfast with the firemen is the BEST. I love eating breakfast in the firehouse and watching the children (and a few adults) climb in and around the fire engines. It’s a special opportunity to thank the Firemen and women for all that they do to protect us. The Silver Lining is that the firemen tend to make their pancakes a little extra thick. Just sayin’…
I was kind of obsessed with their equipment.
Happy 4th of July from me and Smokey the Bear!
“Those who won our independence believed liberty to be the secret of happiness and courage to be the secret of liberty.”
– Louis D. Brandeis
Do you have any traditions? If so, I sure would love to hear about them!
